I’m a little shocked at this actually. I view him more as a building
block (something the Rays need). He will not be arbitration eligible
for a while, he has tons of talent, he has the potential to be a
perenniel allstar.

Maybe it is not the on the field factors that weigh in to this decision. 2008 is looking interesting for the Twins.

Interesting
to me is that the Rays pick up Garza. The makings of a stud pitcher.
But do you think pitching in the tin can the Rays call home is
conducive to great pitching? “Not I”, said the little brown cat!

Now if he would only drop Boras. I’m not an A-Rod fan, but niether am I a hater like what seems to be the majority of sports radio call in freaks (a special kind of person). So I have no real feelings one way or another about him going back to the Yankees. I just wish he would dump the scourge of the earth that is his agent.

No doubt that Scott Boras gets top dollar for his clients. It just seems to the average fan (me), that he cares nothing about the sport, and would do anything to the game (e.g., the A-Rod optout during the World Series – not very well played in my mind). A-Rod did not need another hit on his image.

I personally am glad to see him tuck tail and go back to the Yankees. Not because I want to see him humbled. Rather, I think it is a sign that Boras may be losing an edge. It was even nicer to see the Gambler give Boras the old heave ho as well — although I think the Gambler needs to go all-in to cash out at his age.

Time will tell, but I hope Boras takes a smaller role.

Perjury?

admin

Are freaking kidding me? Is that all they got Barry Bonds on?

Do we even know what he lied about yet? Did he lie about the roids, or possibly something else that hindered the prosecution in Balco?

I can not really stand Barry, but if all they got him on is perjury, then I think a lot of the loudest Barry haters are going to be disappointed.

To me it was no surprise that Dustin Pedroia won the AL Rookie of the Year award for 2007.? I mean, I can’t honestly believe anyone thought that Dice-K was even worthy of being considered.? Dustin played the entire year, worked through some tough times, but overall played a solid 2b and ended up with nice offensive numbers.?

No, I don’t think he is a long run hall of famer.? Unless, he plays so many years that the sheer volume of numbers he puts up gets the committee to overlook his relatively non-superstar stats (aka, Cal Ripken).?

Let me clear it now… I am not a Yankee fan. Never have been, likely never will be.

But this dude Robinson Cano (Robby for short), can flat out hit. Sure he only hits in the bottom of the superstar lineup, but he has moved up from his regular 9 spot on last years team to a pretty regular 7 hitter. And I’d guess that is only because Joe Torre is so loyal to his superstars. I have to think though that Robby will be one of his superstars to be loyal too by the start of 2009. They will have dumped a few of their current stars by then, and Robby will be the nearly 5th year player.

He may… and I obviously stress may, be the next guy who has an outside chance of hitting .400. I mean he was hitting right at .260 in mid July, and is now hitting a solid .300. It’s a stretch to go to .400, but has shown he can do so for over a month. Pretty nice for a 24 year old. When you can raise your average 40 points in a month during the 2nd half of the season, you know how to hit.

Parting shot — let’s not forget he gave the entire league a run for the batting average title last year.
