It sure was nice seeing Craig Biggio get hit number 3000 the other night. Remember the young looking Biggio from the 1989 Upper Deck rookie card of his? I do… he sure looks like he is old now compared to then. Of course he has been a top catcher, a top second basemen, a decent outfielder, and now a decent second basemen in his career and deserves to look a little older. If not for having Chris Burke in my APBA league (hoping some day he’d get to play 2b), I have no interest in seeing Biggio go. He appears to me to represent very much about what is good with Major League baseball. Hard work, doing what it takes for the best of the team. While I am sure in 18 years we may that about some current young player, I think we will be hard pressed to see someone like Craig Biggio again.

Oh yes… he has been plunked over 280 times!

I guess I am a Frank Thomas fan. I mean, he did get on my nerves for a little while when it appears he was whining about playing time in Chicago. He was not really producing at the time, and despite hitting some homers, the average has not been over .300 since 2000. I felt like he was just hanging on (ala Emmitt Smith) to get to 500 homers (selfish). After listening to all of the crap about guys on the juice though, it’s nice to see someone who from all appearances did it naturally (and he made a big point about that in his press conference last night. Of course it would not be a perfect night for Frank without getting tossed for argueing balls and strikes. What the heck!

Congratulations Frank!

After years of having this site sit here, virtually unused, I have decided to take down the baseball card store, and put up this blog in it’s place. For those who used to come here regularly looking for cards, I apologize. It was just not getting the traffic or enough of my time to make it worth while. I’ll regularly be posting information here now about baseball cards and baseball in general.

Look for a significant bump in content this weekend as I have lots to put up!
